deer hunting, hunting binoculars

My grandfather passed away this November. Although I will miss him terribly, I have many fond memories of my Grandpa. Some of the fondest are of hunting season.

There are several men in my family who go deer hunting. My grandfather is the first. At his funeral, almost everyone had a story about "the hill". Grandpa had a favorite hunting spot that he would go to on the hill across from his house. He owned all of the property, so he had his choice of places to hunt from. And every year, he'd come home with the buck. What everyone couldn't understand is how...none of them came home with one, and they were all deer hunting with him.

Shortly before he passed away, we found out that the stories were true. He would sit in his spot, fall asleep, and when he woke up, the buck just happened to be standing there, waiting for him to awaken and take the shot. He always had meat in his freezer!

He never used scent away. He never used attraction scents. I don't even think he broke out his hunting binoculars...he just always got that buck!
